DON’T PANIC!

DON’T WAIT UNTIL SUNDAY NIGHT!

Just study a little each day, and you’ll be ready for the test.

FRIDAY NIGHT:

  • Read the story. YES! I know we read it in class, but read it again. Pay special attention to the last two pages.
  • Study your flashcards.  SPELLING COUNTS!

SATURDAY MORNING:

  • Try answering this question: “Will Victor and Teresa become a couple?”
  • USE CER PATTERN! Your evidence should come from page 42.
  • You only need two pieces of evidence from the text and each time you give evidence you MUST include your reasoning.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON:

On a sheet of loose leaf, draw the mountain then label the five parts (exposition, rising action, etc.) Then copy six of the following bullets into the correct part of the mountain. WARNING: A few of the bullets are wrong.  Don’t copy those bullets.

  • Victor makes a complete fool of himself in French class just to impress a girl.
  • Teresa has a kitchen full of big brothers. (This is in the text, BUT it’s not important enough to add to the plot.)
  • At lunch, Victor keeps trying to see Teresa, but she’s never in his view.
  • Victor dashes to the library to get French books.
  • Teresa eats a plum for lunch.
  • Mr. Beuller knows the boy is a fake but doesn’t snitch because he used to do the same thing when he was younger.
  • It’s the first day of school in Fresno, California. Victor has a crush on Teresa.
  • Victor embarrasses himself a couple times (homeroom and English class).
  • Victor and Teresa finally talk; she’s impressed because she thinks he speaks French.

SUNDAY MORNING:

  • Answer this question. Use QAR.

7. Which of the following happened in French class?

A. Victor blurts out his crush’s name.

B. Victor bites himself then whispers something.

C. Teresa plays with her hair.

D. Victor whispers then bites himself.

  • Change the following sentences with IDIOMS to make them TRUE:

EXAMPLE: Victor thinks math is a piece of cake.

SHOULD BE: Teresa thinks math is a piece of cake. (see page 36 in the text)

  1. The students in English class had ants in their pants.
  2. Victor scowled at Belinda and managed to catch her eye.
  3. Victor was pulling the teacher’s leg when he spoke French to the teacher.

EXTRA CREDIT CHALLENGE: Write Victor’s complete school schedule – IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER starting with homeroom.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT:

Play video games.  Eat cake. Relax and sleep well.  Don’t worry about a thing because YOU STUDIED!
