Field Day Friday

Hello, Snow School Community!!!!

Field Day 2017 is Friday, June 9.  We still have room available for volunteers if you have some time to help out.  The link to Sign Up Genius is http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4bacad22a7f94-snow1

Kindergarten through second grade, and MOCI students, will enjoy the morning games, 9 am-11 am.  Third through fifth grade students will have an afternoon Field Day, 1 pm-3 pm.  Everyone will have their normal lunch time.

Field Day t-shirts are due in Thursday– close!!, due to the new computerized printing system at the company we used.  If you ordered a shirt and it doesn’t come home Thursday, students will get them Friday morning and can change into them at school.  If shirts weren’t ordered students can wear any Snow Spirit Wear or any school appropriate shirt.

We are asking everyone to bring a water bottle, names on them please, which can be refilled at our rest station.  Students are welcome to bring a snack and fruit will be available at the water/rest station.

Questions? Please email or call Mr. Moyer, moyerm@dearbornschools.org, or Ms. Zechar, zecharj@dearbornschools.org. Keep positive thoughts for great weather!

Martian Marathon

Martian Marathon this Saturday, April 22!
For those of you participating in any of the races this Saturday, please remember to go the Expo and pick up your race packets this Fri., April 21 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, between 3pm and 8pm.

The races are Sat., April 22 at Ford Field in Dearborn. Here is a link to a map for parking: http://files.constantcontact.com/d100d5f8001/f0e8ca44-f0a1-4aec-9228-5cda10492e33.pdf
For those who have not done this before, you can NOT park at Ford Field nor can you go through the neighborhood north of there (Brady, Golfcrest, etc.). It is all blocked off for the races.

For those participating in the 5K, that race starts at 8am. We recommend being down at the starting area and ready to go by about 7:30am. Since the 5K is timed, please make sure your bib is on the outside of your clothing, on the front and as close to waist high as possible to ensure accurate timing results.

For those participating in the Kids Run with Snow, that race starts at Noon (Snow is in the BLUE wave). We recommend being with our group and ready to go around 11:15 to 11:30am. No later than 11:30am since they start grouping and getting all the schools lined up.

It’s going to be a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see everyone there! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Moby Max Challenge

Snow Students another Snow Challenge has begun!

Please work on Moby Max from now until June 3, 2017.

Students with the most points will be recognized and celebrated.

This is a great way to stay focused and finish the school year STRONG!

Peer Pals Come To Snow School

Dear Snow Parents,

Snow Elementary is committed to fostering an inclusive environment for our students with and without disabilities. As part of our efforts to support students with disabilities we have developed a program to promote awareness.

Peer Pals is dedicated to building relationships between general education students and students with special needs.  This program allows general education students to develop empathy and understanding of differing abilities. It allows for students with special needs to build friendships with same age typically developing peers. Some students will be paired in social/academic activities with a peer pal.  Student participation is voluntary.

WORK HARD AND BE PROUD OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS Showcase:

Dear Students and Families of Snow School,
There are many wonderful milestones that have been accomplished by our students at school and in our community. As part of our Leader in Me Program, we would like to showcase these milestones. If your son/daughter individually, or as part of your family, a group or a team, has risen to the next level in anything-sports/reading/volunteering, etc., or has shown great leadership, participated in charity events, helps out at Scouts, church, or in another way, please send in documentation and we will post these in our new showcase for Leadership. Items, with names!!!, should be sent to Mrs. Zechar. Your items will be returned after the month they have been posted. If we get a lot of entries we might have to hold on to yours for a bit before it gets posted. Thanks for your help in celebrating our Snow School Community!

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading
