WELCOME BACK!

It is great to welcome all of you back! I look forward to getting to know the incoming 9th graders and continuing our work with the 10, 11, and 12th graders.

My name is Jennifer Chapman. I will be teaching the vocational program at the Michael berry Career Center. We will continue our tore this year as students learn to make products such as welcome signs for door, wood signs for the house, lighted bottles and candles. Please look for upcoming notices on our store where we will sell products at the end of October and December.

This year is a nut free classroom. If you send food, please do not send in anything that has nuts or nut oils as we have an allergy in the room. Please feel free to contact me at any time at 313-827-1500 extension 22904, or by email chapmaj@dearbornschools.org

Thank you

Jennifer Chapman

A couple fun science experiments

Dry Erase

Dry Erase - March 2018 Experiment of the Month at SFFE

Materials:

  • A glass plate, bowl, or picture frame
  • Dry erase marker
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Draw a simple picture on the glass. A stick figure is a good one to start with
  2. Pour water onto the plate or into the bowl slowly to lift up the drawing
  3. Swirl the water around to make the picture dance and move

How does it work?

The marker leaves behind mixture of pigments and a type of alcohol mixed together. The alcohol dissolves and the pigments are left behind as a solid. Glass is so smooth that the solid slides right off when it gets wet!
