Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading

First Day of School Reminders

  • On Tuesday, September 8th, students should line up on the playground behind the school no later than 8:35 a.m. Classes begin promptly at 8:40 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. Students should plan on arriving 10 minutes early to verify classroom assignments.
  • Class rosters will be posted at the entrances near the playground on Friday, September 4th after 4 p.m. Staff will be assisting children in identifying their assigned teacher on the first day of school, September 8th.
  • Kindergarten classes will also meet in the playground this year which will be the regular routine for the school year.
  • Students will meet their teacher at the assigned area (yellow line) which is identifiable by room number on the playground area. We are asking parents to remain outside the building as students will be escorted inside by their teacher in order to allow for a smooth transition as the school year begins. If there is inclement weather on the first day, then students should go to the gymnasium in order to line-up for class and parents are welcome to accompany them.
  • Suggested supply lists are posted on the DuVall School News Blog: http://duvall.dearbornschools.org/
  • Students will receive informational packets containing a tan colored emergency form and other relevant information. Please take the time to review and completely fill out the necessary documents. Emergency forms and other pertinent documents must be returned to your child’s teacher no later than Friday, September 11th, 2015. Insurance forms and free and reduced lunch forms are available in the office for pick-up.
  • During the school year, we welcome parents and guardians as visitors in our school. However, for security and safety reasons, we ask that all visitors report to the main office to get a visitor pass. Please enter through the main doors as you are required to have a visitor pass. THIS PROCESS IS MANDATORY.
  • During the school year we also ask for an advance notice if you would like to visit a classroom or volunteer in order to ensure that visitation days will be convenient for the instructional schedule on specific days. In order to protect student safety (per state law) all volunteers must have a copy of their driver’s license on file in the office.   This information must be in at least 2 weeks prior to the event. If you plan on volunteering in the classroom or chaperoning field trips, please stop in the office any time so that we can obtain this copy. If you plan to provide transportation on any field trip, we also need a copy of your insurance information on file. If your child requires a car seat, one must be provided by the parent/guardian.
